Columbia River Steel & Construction, Inc. (CRSC), based in Grandview, WA, is a full service  general contractor, engineering company & pre-engineered metal building fabricator. With a  strong commitment to safety, CRSC is seeking a Safety Officer to lead our safety initiatives and  ensure the well-being of our employees, subcontractors and stakeholders. 

Job Summary: 

The Safety Officer will play a pivotal role in continuing safety culture within our organization.  This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive  safety programs and practices across all phases of our steel building manufacturing and general  contracting operations. The Safety Officer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, educate  employees on safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with local and  federal regulations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute a proactive safety strategy to minimize accidents, injuries, and  incidents throughout our steel building manufacturing and general contracting  processes. 
  • Lead the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety policies,  procedures, and guidelines to align with industry best practices and regulations. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential  hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement. 
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and other relevant  stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution. Provide leadership and guidance in the event of emergencies, accidents, or incidents,  ensuring proper response, investigation, and documentation.  
  • Facilitate safety training and educational programs for employees and subcontractors,  covering topics such as fall protection, hazard communication, equipment operation,  and emergency response. 
  • Monitor and track safety performance metrics, preparing regular reports for  management that highlight trends, successes, and areas needing attention. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations related to  steel building manufacturing and general contracting activities, and ensure compliance. Develop and maintain a culture of safety by promoting open communication, proactive  reporting, and accountability throughout the organization. 
  • Collaborate with third-party safety consultants, when necessary, to bring in specialized  expertise and conduct comprehensive safety audits.

Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards, as well as familiarity with Washington  State safety requirements. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, develop  mitigation strategies, and implement effective solutions. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for delivering safety training,  conducting investigations, and interacting with diverse teams. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading safety initiatives, implementing safety  programs, and driving a safety-focused culture. 
  • Proficiency in using MS Office, safety management software and tools to track incidents,  manage training, and generate reports. 
  • Collaborative and influential team player who can work effectively with individuals at all  levels of the organization. 
  • Willingness to travel to different project sites as required. 
  • Clean driving record (must be insurable by CRSC insurance carrier). 

Benefits: 

  • Wage range depending on qualifications ($20 – $40 per hour) 
  • Paid holidays, PTO, health and dental insurance and a 401K retirement plan with  company match (benefits earned after 90 days of employment). 
  • Company car to be used during office hours.
